Pedra, Papel, Tesoura

"Pedra, Papel, Tesoura" is the work that elevates Trovador Falcão to new sounds and new environments.

Starting writing and composing the first songs in 2021, the Rock'n'roll sound and ambition are immediately noticeable in the lyrics and changing rhythms.

The recording was made at Chinfrim studios between December 2022 and April 2023 and all instruments are played by David Simões.

It is an album that thematically transposes a bucolic vision, somewhat defeatist but also hopeful for a world in constant change.

It was worked on both together in the studio with Bernardo Ramos and Henrique Rosário, and at home in a more solitary process of recording demos and different versions, which resulted in greater experimentation.

The sound diversity exists thanks to the various dynamics and instrumentation; in songs like “Surpreender” or “Voltar para a Ilha”, for example, we have a more agitated and distorted rock with Garage and Punk influences, in “Céu Aberto”, “Vai Embora” and “Superpólen” you can feel the legacy of heavier psychedelia. On the other hand, “Talvez Um Dia” and “Fivela” are a Pop feeling that flourishes followed by a darker and more worldly “Masmorra”.

First person:

I always made this album with an attitude of fun and liberation, above all. I want to have fun recording it, rehearsing it and playing it live and I obviously want to transmit that to the outside. It has to be an easy moment to listen to, easy to understand, easy to memorize and play.

The album was recorded entirely by me, which gave me great freedom to make it sound exactly as I imagined it and how it sounded on the demos, which were my main guide, and together with Bernardo we made them sound bigger and more perfect.

I never thought of this work as something conceptual or imitating anything in particular. What remains for history is a collection of stylistically and thematically diverse songs, written over the course of two years in the best and worst moments of my existence.
