Reverie
Too Many SunsToo Many Suns have released their second full-length album, ‘Reverie’, accompanied by the single and corresponding video clip, ‘1974’, in collaboration with Surma. The disc comes out on the brand new Reverie Records label and takes a more central role in ‘pop’, although the simplicity of this record doesn't prevent them from approaching it with more maturity, exploring different sound registers. This can be seen in the different partnerships with the female voices of Surma (‘1974’), Beatriz Nunes (‘Take Me Home’) and newcomer So (‘Gold’), as well as the Nepalese bansuri of Sunil Pariyar (‘C'mon’).
In ‘Reverie’ - a product of the imagination or dream; fantasy; chimera - the band wanders, as usual, between songs and sonic explorations, but the themes have a dreamlike character that aggregates them, contemplating the meaning of the disc, whether in the lyrics or in the atmosphere created by Hugo Hugon (guitar and vocals), João Cardoso (drums), Vasco Rato (bass) and Simão Reis (guitar and keys).
‘Reverie’ is available from 24 May in CD format, with a first edition of 200 copies.
Accompanying the release of the disc, the band is focusing attention on the single ‘1974’, in collaboration with Surma, one of the most impactful names in Portuguese alternative music, which tells the story of two potential lovers who come face to face with our Carnation Revolution and everything it could mean for their future.A necessary allegory in times of intolerance and an uncertain future, but also of hope and the fight for values of freedom.
