Portugal por um Violino

Portugal through a Violin is an album that intends to musically pay tribute to the main regions of mainland Portugal, the Azores, and Madeira, with the aim of reinventing and reviving our traditional Portuguese music.

The pieces in this album were created through the collection, selection, and reworking of traditional Portuguese songs from the country’s most emblematic regions, in collaboration with Portuguese composers.

To the sound of Ana Catarina Pinto’s violin, accompanied on the piano by Nuno Tavares, this work weaves together the classical, the traditional, and improvisation in a unique symbiosis.

This is an album that, through music, takes us on a journey across our extraordinary country — a true ode to Portugal.
