puto bacoco
Born in Areosa and raised in Rio Tinto, Gil da Costa developed a deep connection to music from an early age. His journey began with the guitar, later moving on to the Porto Jazz School, where he consolidated his musical training and gained confidence as a performer and creator.
Over the years, he has been part of and led several projects, such as the bands Caravan and Lowrate, exploring different sounds and stage experiences. It was also in this context that he became familiar with the studio environment, collaborating at Fábrica de Som and working with various artists on the national and international scene, from alternative projects to more mainstream names. Among them are Smoke City, PZ, Olive Tree Dance, Ninja Core, Protest and Survive, GoBabyGo, Luciana Abreu, and Dear Sherlock. At the same time, he composed for cinema, participating in several short films, including the authorship of O Livro de Tudo.
After a period of artistic maturation, he returned with a new project in collaboration with Nuno Mendes: “puto bacoco”. The debut album, the result of several years of joint work, reflects a unique musical identity, marked by experimentation, attention to detail, and writing that thrives on subtext and meticulously thought-out arrangements.
Today, Gil da Costa presents himself as a versatile musician, with a career that spans different styles, contexts, and collaborations, always with authenticity as the guiding thread. “puto bacoco” represents the culmination of that journey—a solid and unique artistic statement.
