Marco Oliveira

Marco Oliveira was born in Lisbon in 1988.

A musician, singer and composer with roots in fado, he has performed in theatres and festivals all over the world: Spain, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and the United States are some of the countries he has visited.

Love, the city, farewell and melancholy are some of the themes he addresses in his albums:
Retrato (2008), Amor é água que corre (2016), Ruas e Memórias (2021) - with musical production by José Mário Branco
and performance direction by Manuela de Freitas in 2019; album of the year in the newspaper Ípsilon / Público in 2021;
A Night in Lisbon - live at São Luiz (2023) and The Path is what remains of the journey (2025)

In 2008 he received the Francisco Carvalhinho award given by Casa da Imprensa at Teatro São Luiz as best instrumentalist.

Rooted in the culture and experience of traditional music in his city, he studied classical guitar at the National Conservatory and attended the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lisbon.
These lessons enriched his artistic expression, allowing him to move between traditional fado and original music.

In 2024, he received the composer award at the 8th edition of the Voz do Operário Fado Gala.
In 2025, he is preparing to release Caminho é quanto fica da viagem, an album in partnership with guitarist José Peixoto, which explores the poetry of the most important writers of the 20th century, such as Eugénio de Andrade, Sophia de Mello Breyner and Miguel Torga.

“(...) an unexpected absolute solo by Marco Oliveira, whose vocals were truly impressive, before the devoted silence of the audience(...)
