Alcabala

Alcabala is the pseudonym and project of 25-year-old Lisbon musician João Leal. His songs are born from his guitar (acoustic or electric) and voice, eventually evolving and mixing electronic atmospheres with more fragile and organic environments. Following the release of the EP Inside Out and the LP A Viagem Atrás do Sol, he is preparing to release the album Dinossauro Azul in early 2026, with the first single, Encarar o Vendaval, to be released in October this year (selected for the Fnac 2025 New Talents album).

The album represents an unpredictable fusion of genres and a peculiar concept, ranging from progressive rock to electronic music. For this work, he teamed up with producer Makoto Yagyu at Haus studio, where everything was recorded and produced.

Live, he performs both in band format and in a more intimate and acoustic style. Last year, he played at venues such as Tokyo Lisboa, Cine-incrível Almada, Fábrica Braço de Prata, and Casa do Comum.
