Levitar
Paula MorelenbaumBossarenova Trio, a visionary transatlantic ensemble composed of Paula Morelenbaum (Brazil), Joo Kraus and Ralf Schmid (both from Germany), present their new album LEVITAR. Together they have created an innovative fusion between the lyrical warmth of bossa nova and the experimental side of electro-jazz, creating a sound deeply rooted in tradition and at the same time boldly innovative.
The album consists of 7 tracks, highlighting the title track Levitar and the advance singles Nem Sei and Será.
"Levitar" is born from the partnership between Ralf Schmid, who wrote the music, and Paula Morelenbaum, author of the lyrics. Produced by Lucas Nunes (Bala Desejo / Caetano Veloso) and Joo Kraus, the song seems to float, as if gravity ceased to exist. This ethereal atmosphere inspired Paula to write the lyrics from the perspective of someone aboard a spaceship, in outer space, observing Earth from above — distant and delicate — as astronauts do.
The album also features an acoustic version of the song Nem Sei and a medley of Vinicius de Moraes and Baden Powell, entitled Canto de Ossanha / Berimbau.
The tracks are full of guest musicians such as Lucas Nunes on guitar, Alberto Continentino on bass, Keita Ogawa, Thomas Harres, Thommy Baldu and Pacato on drums and percussion, Salvatore La Ferrera on accordion and also a string section:
Silke Schmid on violin, Fabiana Schmid on violin and Monica Schmid on cello.
