Vicente Oliveira

Vicente Oliveira, Portuguese guitarist (b. 2002), began his musical training in classical guitar at the Academia de Música de Santa Cecília and holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He also studied at the Hot Clube de Portugal. He studied with musicians such as André Fernandes, Mário Delgado, Nuno Costa, and José Menezes, and took part in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Joe Lovano, Michael Formanek, Jorge Rossy, and Ohad Talmor.

He is the leader of the project Marwan, through which he has performed at festivals in Portugal such as Out Jazz and Ageas Cool Jazz, won the Smooth FM Young Talents Competition in 2024, and presented his music in the Antena 2 concert series. In 2025, he formed a sextet dedicated to original compositions and arrangements inspired by traditional Portuguese music, performing in venues and festivals in Catalonia such as El Molino, Vijazz Vilafranca Festival, and the Goethe-Institut in Barcelona. This project resulted in the album O que a terra deixou para trás (2026).

As a sideman, Vicente Oliveira collaborates with musicians such as Guilherme Fradinho, Mateus Oliveira, Javier Gómez, and Andronikos Sotiriou, participating in albums including La timidez de los árboles (2025) and Short Stories (2025). He completed a master’s degree in jazz performance at ESMUC, Barcelona (2025), and a master’s degree in jazz composition at ESMUC (2026). In Barcelona, he studied with musicians such as Dani Perez, Mario Rossy, and Lluc Casares.
