Elise Azevedo

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Elise Azevedo discovered Portugal in1984, and nothing was ever the same again. Raised on American folk and rock music from the 60s and 70s, she was later influenced by Portuguese artists such as Fausto, Sérgio, Zé Mario Branco, and DulcePontes.

Inspired by her work with institutionalized youth in Lisbon, she began composing lyrics calling attention to the pain of those left on the outside of society. Her honest and passionate lyrics highlighted by a tremendously unique and powerful voice are that of a versatile and talented singer - songwriter.

After a 15 year pause from music, she returns with her 4th album “Colors of Goodbye” using a combination of sounds that evoke American folk, crossed with influences from world music and Portuguese melancholy. Her lyrical inspiration expresses the challenges, failures and hope we experience as our imperfect selves.
