Cristina Maria

Cristina Maria reveals an inventive energy and unparalleled creative flair, marked by a profoundly unique state of mind. With a degree in Artistic Stonework from the School of Arts and Crafts in Batalha (1994–1997), she stands out in sculpture for her ability to transform stone—a simple and ancient raw material—into works of unique beauty and expression. Her search for form is guided by a very personal aesthetic standard, where each piece bears the signature of her sensitivity.

For Cristina Maria, art is experienced in two dimensions: through sculpture and fado. Two soulmates that feed off each other, growing side by side on a sensible and inspired journey. Surrounded by people who give her confidence and encouragement, she has built a career marked by tenacity and artistic affirmation.

In her most recent exhibitions — Esculturas do Meu Fado (Sculptures of My Fado), InFatum, Fado & Pedras D’Alma (Fado & Stones of the Soul), Saudade, ComTradições (With Traditions), Reflexos (Reflections), 25 Anos de Criação Artística (25 Years of Artistic Creation), and Retalhos (Patches) — Cristina Maria asserts her creative maturity, inviting us to enter her intimate universe of experiences and emotions in a generous gesture of sharing.
